Club Membership Guidelines
Updated: October 1, 2019
The Rotary Board met recently to review and adopt a formal set of rules regarding the classification of memberships and related financial obligations for members of the Union City Rotary Club:
- Active - Current dues are $205 / quarter.
- Retiree - An active member who has retired from any active employment, is at least 62 years of age, and has a minimum of 15 years of service in Rotary, can apply for the classification of "Retiree". Quarterly dues will be initially set at $100/quarter. There will be no additional charge for meals, regardless of the number of times a Retiree attends. Those members who are currently in the old "Senior Active" classification will be moved to this membership class, as the ability to obtain "Senior Active" classification was stopped many years ago.
- Leave of Absence - A leave of absence will only be granted for medical or financial hardship, only upon written request and subsequent approval by the Board, and only for a period of 90 days. The leave can be extended for additional 90 day periods upon written request and approval by the Board. Quarterly dues will be initially set at $65, with the member not anticipated to attend meetings ($12 / meal if they do attend). The members currently in "leave of absence" status will be given 90 days' notice in order to comply with this provision, change to a "regular" member status or resign from the Club.
- Collection Policy Regardless of Classification - Members are expected to pay their quarterly dues upon receipt of their quarterly billing. If a member is more than one quarter delinquent at the time of a quarterly billing cycle, they will be sent a letter with that quarter's billing indicating that they have 30 days to pay their account in full or their membership will be suspended pending full payment.
